Privacy Policy

X Code Lab built the "Recover Deleted Messages/Media" Android application (the "App") as a free app. This Service is provided by X Code Lab at no cost and is intended for use as-is.

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our App, and the choices you have associated with that information.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

The App is designed to help you view and save WhatsApp status updates, and to recover recently deleted media and messages that are still present in your device's local notification/media cache. To do this, the App may request the following device permissions:

  • Storage access — to read WhatsApp's local media folders and to save recovered or downloaded status files to your device.
  • Notification access (if applicable to the version you installed) — to detect message content for the "recover deleted message" feature, since deleted messages can only be recovered from data that briefly exists on your device before deletion.

All of this processing happens locally, on your device. The App does not have its own server, and we do not collect, transmit, or store your personal messages, chats, contacts, or media on any server owned or controlled by X Code Lab. Recovered messages and media never leave your device through our App.

The App does not access, read, or interfere with your WhatsApp account, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to WhatsApp Inc. or Meta Platforms, Inc. in any way.

Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services that collect information used to identify you, such as:

  • Google Play Services
  • Google Analytics for Firebase (usage analytics)
  • AdMob / other advertising networks (to display ads within the free version of the App)

These third-party providers may collect anonymized information such as device identifiers, IP address, device model, and OS version, for the purpose of serving ads and understanding app performance. We do not control how these third parties use this data. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies:

Log Data

Whenever you use our App, in the case of an error we may collect data and information (through third-party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the App when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.

Cookies

The App itself does not use cookies. However, it may use third-party code and libraries (such as ad networks) that use cookies or similar technologies to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to accept or refuse these cookies. If you choose to refuse them, some features of the App may not function properly.

Permissions Summary

Permission Why it's needed
Storage / Media access To read WhatsApp status/media folders and save recovered files locally
Notification access To support the deleted-message recovery feature
Internet To display ads and load analytics SDKs

We do not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or location, and any permission not listed above is not used to collect personal data.

Data Security

We value your trust in providing us your information and are committed to using commercially reasonable means to protect it. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since recovered media and messages are processed and stored locally on your device (not on our servers), you control this data directly — you can delete it at any time from your device storage or by uninstalling the App. We do not retain copies of your personal content.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly address or collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Links to Other Sites

The App may contain links to other sites. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites, as we have no control over and assume no responsibility for their content, privacy policies, or practices.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page, and changes are effective immediately upon posting.
